In inscrutable China, grumbles emerge over the iron fisted handling of a devastating epidemic. In Iran, chador clad brave women reveal their resolve to fight oppression. In North America, forces of social conservatism threaten the very foundations of a liberal democracy. In South Asia economic instability derails expectations, opening up ruling regimes to scrutiny of intent. Where at home issues of employment and rising costs continue to agitate, across borders spanning continents, refugees endlessly await entry, having risked life for liberty. At the heart of all this churning, is a change in the axis of power, a questioning of old alliances and a challenging of received wisdom.

Where does India stand at this moment in world history, a year away from another General Election? A busy calendar of events for 2023 with elections to nine states, a resurgent southern India, a revitalised political opposition and a whole new generation impatient to lead across sectors.
